What is celluma?

Celluma is a low-level light therapy device! NASA originally researched and developed low-level laser technology to be able to deliver light energy to the body and obtain the therapeutic benefits associated with it. So, you’re probably wondering how did it get from NASA to Anna Elizabeth Esthetics?

Why we added Celluma

We are always looking for ways to help clients in a natural, non-invasive way. We have a number of clients that suffer from acne and Celluma has a proven track record for treating and improving acne. We also have clients that come to us for anti-aging services. Celluma is great at helping to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while reducing inflammation and improving texture…all things our anti-aging clients care about!

On top of addressing the needs of many of our clients, we chose Celluma because it can be used as an add-on service, or on it’s own and we like to give you options!

How does it work?

Before we brought Celluma to the studio, Anna did a lot of research about how low-level light therapy actually works to benefit the skin.

Celluma provides compromised cells with the energy they need to regain and restore vitality using the body’s natural ability to heal. It’s wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin’s layers and are absorbed by photoreceptors in the mitochondria. This process increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) ― the fuel that drives all cells. This boost of cellular energy results in a cascade of metabolic events leading to an increase in micro-circulation, tissue repair, and a decrease in inflammation and pain. It works very similar to how plants absorb and use sunlight!

We specifically chose Celluma over other similar devices because of the way it delivers energy. Research has shown that cells are much more efficient in absorbing light energy when that energy is delivered over a longer period of time and when the light is delivered in pulses rather than a constant stream of light.

This is where Celluma is differentiated from the other devices on the market. Celluma uses very complex electronic algorithms to modulate the light energy to ensure optimal cellular absorption. The Celluma’s treatment times are also intentionally longer in duration to ensure optimal cellular absorption.

Competing LED devices use higher levels of energy emission and shorter treatment times, claiming to be more efficient in energy delivery.

The truth of the matter is that “slower and lower” is better. Too much energy delivered too fast just results in the non-absorption of the energy and a diminished therapeutic benefit. So, Celluma made the most sense to us!
